The Individuality Of Air and Breath 2021
Developing on from the project "Breathe", this body of work explores the individuality and uniqueness of our breath. This project began with the idea of creating a portrait of an individual through their breath by capturing it within a still body of work. Research on new technology called 'breath-prints' showed me how we can all be easily identified through the microbes and particles that make up our breath and are personal to us. The work progressed to explore 'Air'. Looking at air from many different angles such as humans, wind and man made, the relationship between humans and nature became the focus of the project. More specifically, the givings and takings of each side of air and breath working together to ensure the survival of the other: I.e. plants produce oxygen that humans need and we exhale carbon dioxide that plants take in to start the cycle again. The relationship between humans and nature through air and breath was explored predominantly through film.

Breathe 2020/21
With the current pandemic and its affect on our autonomic systems, particularly the lungs and how it affects our breathing. It seemed fitting to create work that at least touched on our current circumstances. Focusing on the motion associated with the autonomic process of breathing, I created work that brought attention to an action we do constantly, yet never consciously think about. As the project developed into simply creating motion, the work became more abstract and video based (links below). To explore more, the project developed back to focusing on breathing but with the additional aspect of medical conditions that can affect the process. That along with the late addition of sound led to the final video piece of this project (link below).

Overindulged 2020
Carrying on from the 'Beauty and Botox' project, the practice developed from looking at Botox specifically, to how it effects our anatomy. 'Overindulged' came from the idea of a person being deemed as 'fake' from the amount of Botox and cosmetic procedures that they have had. Looking at cells that were relevant to the concept of beauty, such as fat or muscle cells. Using fabric to be interpreted as skin, over-stuffed sections indicative of the areas someone would get cosmetic work placed. The addition of black lines to the project added a surgical element. This project was affected part way through due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and so came the addition of digital work to the practice as well as some work only being able to reach the design stage.

Botox and Beauty 2019
Exploring the negative stigma that surrounds cosmetic procedures, specifically Botox. This sculpture series was made to highlight the negative assumptions of Botox including the idea that everyone who had the treatment is ‘fake’ or ‘plastic’. The sculptural pieces are meant to question the way Botox is portrayed and to combat the way it is shown through media. By highlighting the negatives we are able to knock down the surrounding stigma to showcase the true positive affects it can have. Her work in this project is unnamed however most of her audience now refers to her biggest sculpture as ‘Botox Mountain’.

The Brain 2018/2019
Wright’s work often revolves around her personal experiences from her childhood and general life. For this project her work explored the effects a brain tumour has on a person. From the medication to the way it can alter the brain itself. Wright created work inspired by her own personal experiences of growing up with her father having a brain tumour and the way it not only affected him but life around him.
